Something shocking has happened. I hope you are sitting comfortably for this annoucement. I have switched up my makeup routine. I told you it was shocking. With Autumn here my skin is crying out for moisture and the products that have seen me through many a summers day just aren’t cutting it. I was only on the look out for a base finish that was a little more matte than my ususal Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. I have pretty much always been a fan of a medium buildable coverage that packed a lot of glow but I felt like a change. Staying in the medium to buildable coverage land but this time with more of a matte finish felt like the perfect base for autumn 2017.
If you have followed Reverie de Paris for any length of time then you will be well aware of how much of an eyeliner fan I am. Think jet black, smudged out and probably too much for daytime. Alas I love it. Recently however I have been trying to mix things up a little bit and go for a bit of a different ‘look‘ *dry boaks at the use of look in that manner* Autumn 2017 has seen my daytime look go a little bit paired-down.

The foundation I wanged on about in the introduction paragraphs is finally revealed as … No7 Stay Perfect Foundation Thrilling, I know. If you are UK based then you will also be knee deep in No7 makeup and skincare vouchers – not that I am complaining. All of the No7 products mentioned in this post were picked up using the handy dandy vouchers. That is one thing that I think is really handy about this offer, you end up trying out products that you probably wouldn’t have without the (great) discount. The staff on the counter on Princes Street in Edinburgh are incredibly friendly and helpful. They asked me lots of questions about what I liked from my foundation and matched me up to both my fake tanned complexion, my fading tan complexion and my all natural paler complexion. Excessive, probably but no one wants their smoosh to be darker than their neck. The Stay Perfect foundation is a light weight, buildable product that definitely doesn’t get stuck in dry patches which is a major plus poi
nt for me as products can tend to cake up around my nose. It offers long lasting coverage think 7:30am to 8:30pm including a yoga session. That good!
Next concealing those dark circles and any little blemishes that are kicking about.
First up is the NYX Professional Makeup Concealer Jar in light pale that I used to cover any little blemishes that may be kicking about and to cover my under eye bags before adding the No7 Instant Radiance Under Eye Concealer under my eyes to add a little snap of brightness. Just call me a glow-getter! The concealer jar is a great product. It is quite a thick consistency that gives a nice, full coverage. Perfect for covering up any little unwanted bits and bobs. The Instant Radiance under eye concealer is an ok product. Not my favourite but I will use it up, it does the job of adding some light under the eyes to distract from a late night. One conealing is completed I like to move onto my cheeks and a product that has been in my makeup bag for years (obvs this is a new one and not years and years old!) To lightly sculpt my little smoosh, add a touch of natural flush and highlight my cheekbones I use the Makeup Revolution sculpt & contour kit in the shade Ultra Fair. Even when I have bathed myself in fake tan ultra fiar still works a treat on my skintone, adding just the right amount of warmth and glow for my day to day makeup. Plus it is really affordable – winning.
To finish the base stage of my makeup, I go in with the No7 Light pressed powder in translucent. I used to use a face powder with a shade to it but with my tanned to not so tanned to natural skintone happenings throughout the weeks it is easier to opt for a translucent powder to set everything in place. It also means I save some money to buy nail polishes and other things that are not necessary. This excludes gin, that is a nessecity.
Moving onto peepers.
As much as I love my dark, smudged out liner I am really enjoying wearing less eye makeup day to day. Defining my brows with the Makeup Revolution eyebrow pomade in medium brown which I comb out a little when it is in my brows. This is maybe slightly too dark but once brushed through it adds thickness and colour to my brows without looking overly unnatural.
Yet another Makeup Revolution product, can you tell I’m loving this brand?!
I picked up the Makeup Revolution Flawless eye shadow palette a couple of weeks ago on a bit of a whim. One which I 100% do not regret. The colours are a great mix of darks, classic browns, red based browns and highlighters. Basically everything you could need in a single palette! There isn’t really a set shade I choose each day, I basically take my eye shadow brush and go for whatever shadow I fancy that day! Sometimes it is just a really light wash of colour others I opt for a classic chcolate brown then some days I fancy slapping on a warm, red toned shaddow. It just depends on how I feel and what I am wearing on the day. The flawless palette has basically become my staple, everyday palette for whatever look I fancy.
To finish it is a few layers of YSL Faux Cils Mascara in black for thick, volumised jet black lashes and that is the eyes done.
To finish it is lip time. Sometimes I go for a matte red but mostly day to day I opt for a nude lip because it is a lot easier to touch up without a mirror and I don’t need to worry about it smudging on my teeth. The NYX retractable lip liner in nude has become my go to pencil. The colour is pretty similar to my natural lip shape but helps to add some definition to the lips without it looks over done. It works great under a lipstick, a balm or a gloss. Basically it is a great product.
For lipstick I reach for two the most often. Either GOSH lipstick in Darling or Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in Penelope Pink. Both are wearable nudes that are comfortable on the lips and easy to quickly reapply should I need a little pick-me-up through the day.
