It is the Rouge Edition!
Recently I’ve fancied a change partly because I am feeling more like myself again and partly because a change is good! Dark eyes and nude lips have been my make up of choice in the last few months but now I fancy something a bit lighter on the eyes and a bit brighter on the lips. Naturally I took myself off to Boots – any other reliable make up retailer is also acceptable – and purchased three of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks. Check me with a cheeky little beauty review!
I had heard a lot about this offering from Bourjois on beauty blogs and You Tube channels and was intrigued by the claims of intense colour pay off and staying power. Buying one would have just been silly. Four shades it had to be — stopping myself buying a fifth was hard. The shades I opted for were 07 Nude-ist, 05 Ole Flamingo, 02 Frambourjoise and 03 Hot Pepper.
Nude-ist is a beautiful rosy pink shade which isn’t a typical nude shade. It is subtle yet gives the lips a nice fresh colour without being over powering. Orange-red colours are my favourite colours so naturally Hot Pepper was going to stand out as a firm favourite from this line. An intense colour that dry in to the same shade as when you first apply. I think this is wearable during the day — why the hell not! — it is a beautiful shade. Finally we have Ole Flamingo. An intense fuchsia pink that is definitely not for the shy. This colour is gorgeous but I think until I get used to it, it will be reserved for night time as it is pretty intense. Unless I am feeling particularly brave one day! Frambourjoise is a a bit of a red-pink hybrid that looks amazing with an all black outfit. I think this is my favourite so far…
For £8.99 these light weight, limited transfer lipsticks are a steal! The finish is beautiful and even wearing a bright shade like Ole Flamingo you don’t have that worry that it is smudged down your face because the staying power is so good. Hello Boots 3 for 2!!
