Sitting down and doing my nails is one of my favourite “me-time” things to do. I find it really relaxing and enjoyable to treat myself to a wee nail routine and if true be told I do this up to 3 times a week if I am feeling like my nails need a little bit of TLC. When it comes to nail polish, I hate when the polish chips. I don’t know why but I just can’t handle chipped nails! Weird, yes. The fact that I am not a fan of chipped polish also sits nicely alongside my enjoyment of doing my nails so it is win-win really!

The nail routine I follow is nothing fancy. In all honesty, it is probably pretty basic but it works for me so what can I do?!

Taking off your previous polish is the best place to start. Shocking, I know. Then soaking your nails in a little bit of soapy warm water. This will rinse off the nail polish remover and will soften your cutitcles so you can push them down. Next you will want to try your nails and file them. Only file them in one direction! You can then put on a base coat if you fancy, I don’t but only because I’ve not found one that I love. Next pick you nail colour of choice and pop on a top coat. I’ve gone on and on about my favourite top coat before – Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. A little bit of cutitcle oil or hand cream round your nails when you polish is dry and you are good to go!
