3 products for spot prone skin

Whether it be a hormonal breakout, a breakout from being run down or blemishes as the result of having oily skin having imperfections can make you feel a bit shitty! We’ve all been there, when we’ve looked in a mirror and all you can see is the seemingly huge spot.

I get hormonal breakouts and breakouts if I’ve been burning the candle at both ends. I’m human! There are a few products that I always reach for when my skin needs a bit of TLC in order to clear up.

The Products

Nip+Fab Salicylic Acid toner

This is part of the Nip+Fab Teen range but I mean I am 29 and use it 2-3 times a week so don’t let the fact that it says teen put you off.

One ingredient that fights spots like no other is salicylic acid and this is packed full of it. I use this topically on blemishes areas and areas that are regular areas for spots – forehead, nose, jawline. I avoid the plump parts of my cheeks around my eyes because it isn’t needed in these areas.

Applied twice a week, the Salicyclic Acid toner clears up any spots that have come to the surface and aids in combating those coming to the surface. Anymore than 2-3 times a week I find this product would be too drying so I like to balance it with a good moisturisers full of hyaluronic acid and a serum of the same irk.

Neutrogena 2 in 1 wash and mask

A cult product. One, I am sure you have heard of and have no doubt used at some point. This is another salicyclic packed product that will fight off blemishes through a daily wash and through a weekly mask. I like to save the mask for a particularly bad breakout and use the wash daily when I know my period is coming or if I can feel spots under the skin that need a bit of a seeing to. A great thing about this product is the fact that it is really, really affordable. Definitely one to have in your bathroom cabinet.

L’Oreal Pure Clay Detox mask – charcoal

A friend recently gave me a wee sample set of the L’Oreal Pure Clay masks and I would suggest picking one of these up if you want to try out the masks in the range but don’t want to invest in a big pot.

The Detox mask is charcoal that works to draw out impurities from the skin, I have found that the day after I do have some spots that are red bumps that weren’t there before but I have found that after the redness they calm down and go away. Rather than turning into a big messy, horrible spot. This product doesn’t dry out my skin and leaves it feeling clean. I like to mix this with the Purity mask for areas that don’t need detoxifying.
