There are three categories that I spend my hard earned cash on; clothes, books and beauty products. Well four actually, gin/prosecco is a group unto it’s own really. Recently I have picked up a few beauty bits to add to my far too extensive collection and do you know what, I have been loving each and every one of them. What a glorious event, I know.

None of the products are particaly exciting in terms of being a discovery made that hasn’t been made before nor are any of them weird, wacky or wonderfully unique but they have all become staples in my makeup day to day which is a sign of a great product, in my opinion.

MACxAlessandra lipstick: First up is the limited edition perfect nude from Glamour UK beauty editor Alessandra Steinherr. When this is described as the perfect nude, it really is just that. A ‘your lips but better’ shade that doesn’t leave the lips feeling dried out or weighted down with product. Snap this up while it is avaliable because it is brilliant.

L’Oreal Paris Studio Pro LOCK IT Strong Fixing Hairspray: Not the most glamorous of products ever but it is an essential product. The last thing I want is for my pixie cut to be flapping about like a mad thing in the Edinburgh wind. The Lock it Strong Fixing hairspray from L’Oreal holds my style in place all day, even through the night and I am a restless sleeper. It is also really affordable.

Max Factor Voluptuous False Lash Effect Mascara: I can be a little bit of a mascara snob. I enjoy a good mascara and generally stick to YSL Faux Cils because it does exactly what I want my mascara to do. However funds were running low this month and I had to pick up something to see me through to pay day. I picked up the Voluptuous False Lash Effect Mascara on a whim from Boots and it turned out to be a really great mascara. My lashes were full of volume and lift after one application, with a second coat ontop they were even fuller looking which I love.

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer: Again, another not so glamorous product but a staple in your make up bag nonetheless. This is another product I picked up on the off chance because I couldnt’ get the Collection Lasting Perfection in my shade. This is a great under eye concealer that brightens even the darkest of shadows.
