A Review: The Career Code

Back in late January when I heard that Clique Media CEOs and founders Katherine Power and Hillary Kerr were releasing a new book I swiftly got myself on Amazon and pre-ordered myself a copy of The Career Code.

Why did you pre-order a copy I hear you ask?

Well since discovering Katherine Power via Candidly Nicole last year and this then rolling into the discover of Hillary Kerr and Clique Media group they have become two of my top role models. They have successful careers and a company that they have build from the ground up. What more could you be looking for in a role model really?

So what is The Career Code all about, I hear your ponder.

Code#17: Your last impression is the only one that counts

The main idea behind Power and Kerr’s new book offering is to pass on tips and advice that they have learnt from their careers, who better to give you career advice that people who have built themselves a very successful career!

Read another my thoughts on Sali Hughes’¬†Pretty Honest

The book takes you through the entire process of finding a job to interviewing and even about how you should present yourself both physically and verbally depending on the nature of your workplace. Each chapter of the book starts with a tip and then the following pages look deeper into the what Power and Kerr would advise is best practice for this situation.

Code #5: Dress for the job you want, not the job you have

The book doesn’t just give words of wisdom on how to write a perfect CV or how to ace your interview, it even looks at how to manage a team in order to get the most out of them. This book really has everything.

Code #1: Find something you love to do, and then figure out a way to get paid for it

There is a section all about how to dress for the environment you work in as well as giving some great tips of when the best time is to buy certain items. The book is really beautifully presented, is informative and is inspiring which is really what you want from a book you are pulling career inspiration from.
