Red Nail Polishes

The red nail. A classic.

In my nail polish collection there are probably more reds than anything else, the reds definitely are strong rivals for the darks. A lot of them are probably duplicates of the same shade but I am a product gal and am a total sucker for a new nail polish. What’s a gal to do!

As I’ve said before I am a High Street nail polish buyer, spending anything over £10 on a nail polish doesn’t sit well with me. Essie is my most extravagant nail polish purchase and rightly so. For roughly £8, you get a really great product in as many shades as you could imagine! While I write this post and wang on about how red polishes are rivals to darks for me to wear, I am irronically wearing neither shade family. I have instead opted for a blue-grey in the form of Essie Cocktail Bling. This is a really great shade, super flattering and a very unique colour.

Back to the reds.

Picking 4 wasn’t the easiest because like I said there are quite a few on the go but I managed to wangle it down to the ones that I go back to again and again and that I know delivery in terms of staying power, colour pay off and are accessible.

Loreal Nail Lacquer ‘Rouge Sauvage’ (550) : Shop Here

I’ve written about my love for the Loreal Colour Riche nail polishes before and that love has not come close to dying, let me tell you. I have even dedicated an entire post to Rouge Sauvage so that just highlight how much I do actually love – and use – these polishes. I won’t dwell on these two too much because I will just sound like a broken record!

Rubis Folies is definitely more of a deep, plumy red rather than a true classic red but nevertheless is is a beautiful polish that is really flattering on fingers and toes.

Essie ‘Lacquered up’ : Shop Here

It would be wrong to do a favourite red nail polishes post and not included an Essie. Lacquered up is a bright, punchy red that without a doubt fall into the classic red group of polishes. I reach for this polish a lot because it is such a beautiful true red and I know that it will last on my nails without chipping or fading. There are so many gorgeous red shades in Essie’s range but I think Lacquered up is my favourite! Big decleration there.

MaxFactor ‘Red Passion’ (110) : Shop Here

The final of my 4 favourite red nail polishes was a bit of a random purchase one night when I was in Tesco. It may have been a random purchase but it was a bloody good purchase. I adore this nail polish. It is the perfect blue toned red that instantly reminds you of old Hollywood starlets in all their glam-glory. Another one that is super long lasting and with a coat of Seche Vite on top, keeps its shine for days on end.

What are your favourite red nail polish? Do you opt for a classic red or do you prefer something a little more modern and different?

i have a confession…i am a nail polish addict and have spent upwards of £20 on one polish before…

I KNOW, i’m ashamed of myself haha!! i do absolutely love the loreal laquers though, they’re such good quality and if based and coated properly they don’t seem to chip quickly.

We all have our vices! I think the most I’ve spent is £15 and in it’s defence it is a great nail polish!

Totally, good prep with the Loreal polishes makes them last really well x
