“I had found products that delivered the results I was after and worked perfectly with my skin. Then I got itchy feet and wanted to switch up my routine”
I love a new beauty product. The office I work in is on George Street in Edinburgh making it far too easy to wander down to Princes Street and have a little browse in Boots, House of Fraser or Debhenhams of a lunch break. Let’s be honest, it would be rude not to really!
In the past few months my make up routine hasn’t changed up that much. I had found products that delivered the results I was after and worked perfectly with my skin. Then I got itchy feet and wanted to switch up my routine a little – classic product loving gal behaviour. Luckily, I have managed to unearth some really lovely products that have won a space in my regular makeup routine.

NYX Full Coverage concealer in light pale: Shop here
The past few weeks I have been trying to embrace the delights of a tinted moisturiser and so far things seem to be going well. Don’t buy a hat yet. Naturally there are a few blemishes and general imperfections on my smoosh that I would like a little extra coverage, the tinted moisturiser has even out my skintone but I need that added coverage to make me feel like a super sassy gal. NYX Full Coverage concealer is a really great product to tackle dark circle, hide any unwanted breakouts or discolouration without having to blend in a foundation.
The mixture of the NO7 City Light tinted moisturiser and the full coverage concealer gives a healthy, natural glow to the skin without feeling like you are wearing a mask. This, in my opinion, is essential in this muggy weather!
NYX Matte Bronzer (light): Shop here
Another NYX product. This brand and I are definitely having a bit of a moment. I blame the stand in Boots, Princes Street. I need something to warm my face a little, not something to contour with because to be honest, I’m a bit over contouring. Controversial. Also, a bronzer would not be the right undertones for contouring – think grey based as opposed to a warm, bronze shade when contouring. Anyway. Warm up my face a little to add to my natural, tinted moisturiser face was just what the doctor ordered.
The Matte bronzer from NYX isn’t chalky which is essential, you don’t want bronze fall out all over the place and you also don’t want a product that is going to cake up on your skin. Matte bronzer doesn’t do either of these things. Winning. I like to use this on my temples and cheeks to give my skin a little more of a healthy glow without looking like I’ve dunked my head in some wood stain. Another huge plus in my books is that this product is completely matte. A bronzer with any shimmer in just doesn’t work for me.
Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme mascara: Shop here
One product that I will always invest in is a mascara. I know there are some great ones out there on the High Street but a High End mascara is the ultimate treat, a philosophy I picked up from my lovely mother and grandmother.
Sumptuous Extreme mascara is a great mascara for full, defined lashes that you can built up to being full and dramatic – my favourite kind of lashes. There is no clumping or smudging throughout the day, you just have thick, full, beautiful lashes. The fact you can build this product up to your desired effect is a big selling point for me. If I am rocking a vibrant matte red lip then thick, fluttery lashes aren’t really what I am going for. It is a little much for a trip to Tesco (maybe the red lip is a bit much too?!) This mascara serves all my needs in terms of how I want my lashes to look depending on the rest of my makeup, if I am dropping £25 on a mascara that only serves one purpose then I am going to be disappointed and seriously out of pocket when I need to buy additional products to fill my mascara needs and wants. Sumptuous Extreme has my back.
Essie Eclair my Love from Summer 2017 Collection: Shop here
If you follow me on Instagram then you will have seen this nail polish pop up quite a few times. Eclair my love is from the Essie 2017 Summer collection which makes me very sad because it will be gone soon. *must bulk buy* Generally I don’t go for the limited edition collections for fear of really liking a polish and it disappearing but I felt like a new nail polish and was instantly drawn to the bright red nail polish with a candy undertone.
This shade is really flattering on the hands and looks great with a tan or against a paler complexion, it really is an all rounder. I love a red polish but there is something really eye catching and unique about Eclair my Love that I haven’t found with other reds – and lord knows I’ve tried a good few. Vibrant, flattering and looks perfect with two coats. (I always do two coats because I want as much bang from my polish as I can get!)
The Essie Summer 2017 collection is also themed around Paris so of course I was going to love it!
