The do’s and don’ts of fashion

First things first, let’s remember that there are no do’s and don’ts per-say when it comes to fashion. If you like it, wear it. You aren’t hurting anyone, well unless it is socks and sandals. Then you are hurting everyone’s eyes and you should stop immediately. Getting dressed should be fun and you shouldn’t feel like because you aren’t a size 8 that you can’t wear things or because you area size 8 that certain ‘trends’ are off limits. Preassure comes from all places, especially with social media playing such a huge role in our lives. We are constantly comparing ourselves to others and in 2017 it we can do that at any time – day or night.

Comfort is key.

There is nothing worse than putting something on and feeling instantly uncomfortable. If it doesn’t feel like you, don’t wear it. Don’t feel out of sorts because of your outfit. Do you! At the end of the day, if you don’t feel comfortable it will show in the way you carry yourself.

Wear what makes you feel good.

This kind of ties in to the previous do. If you like something, feel comfortable and like the sassiest version of you in it then wear it. It may not be the most “in fashion” thing but being a slave to trends isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Denim cut offs may be the ‘thing’ of the summer but if you feel exposed and self consious in them – don’t waste your fashion time on them.

Don’t underdress because everyone around you is casual.

If you like to get a little dressed up for work but everyone else is really casual then get dressed up. Fashion is about reflecting who you are and how you feel that day so dont’ feel that you need to change the way you dress because you feel you will stick out like a sore thumb.

Enjoy it.

Cheesy, yes but it is true. Enjoying getting dressed and having fun with it is so imporant. Otherwise what is the point.

What are your fashion do’s and don’ts?
