4 Products that I have been loving
Well didn't June fly by us!
This month I have been trying out a few different products that I haven't used before - partly due to one being brand spanking new, thrilling. Skincare, tan, foundation and eyeshadow products have been tried and tested this month and I have found 4 Products that I have been loving and will definitely be repurchasing.
The Skincare Product
I’ve had dry skin on my body for pretty much my whole life and have had quite an oily back and shoulders for most of my teens and 20s, while watching a skincare video from Nadine Baggott I learnt about NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Body Cream. This is a body cream made up of salicylic acid, lactic acid and glycolic acid.
So why did I think this would be beneficial for my skin?
Salicylic acid helps to unblock pores and aids in exfoliation of surface cells while lactic acid gets the exfoliation properties going and helps with cell renewal and aids with collagen synthesis – basically it helps your skin to look younger and smoother. The final acid is glycolic which aids in reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The main aim of using this cream was to get my skin looking a clearer and smoother. After using a couple of times a week, I started to see a big difference in the cystic acne on the tops of my shoulders. They were less harsh looking and have started to shrink which is a win. In terms of the dryness of my elbows, this cream really gets into the dry patches quickly without leaving a tacky feeling on the skin or causing my fake tan to fall off instantly!
I will definitely be getting another tube of the Glycolic Fix from NIP+Fab when this one is finished. It is great.
The Faux Glow Product
Bondi Sands Aero Aerated Self Tanning Foam When I saw this tan realise I was very, very excited. Why you ask?
I LOVE a faux glow
Bondi Sands is my go-to for faux glow needs.
When it comes to formula of fake tan I am generally a mousse girl. Every now and then I do venture into a spray but very rarely touch a lotion. I have quite dry skin and find that the lotion doesn’t absorb as quickly and after a few days my skin feels quite tight and dry which I don’t get with the mousse versions.
The release of the aeriated self-tanning foam from Bondi Sands was quite an exciting one because it claims to be “enriched with nourishing ingredients for intense hydration” – HELLO! Along came my weekly re-do tan day and I reached for the Aero foam. The product has the classic Bondi Sands coconut scent and applies a dream. It is smooth, feels hydrating and dries really quickly. I kept it on for 6 hours then washed it off to reveal a natural, golden tan that was even. Sometimes I find that fake tans can make me a bit orange and it really looks like a fake tan but this was natural without being too subtle. I looked tanned, just not fake tanned. I find that if my knees and elbows are a little more on the dry side that tan can gather here – I’m sure I’m not the only one – but even with limbs that probably could be moisturised a little bit more this didn’t gather and further highlight not only that I have dry skin but that I am wearing fake tan.
The Base Makeup
I love trying a new base product and was in the market for something that would give me medium to buildable coverage as well as a lil bit of glow. Lord knows I love the glow!
A friend recommended the YSL All Hours Foundation to me as she likes the same benefits from her base makeup. What I really like about this foundation is that it is great coverage and really blendable. There is no product build up as the day goes on around nose creases and fine lines under your eyes and you do look flawless and shine free despite having a bit more of a glow. Alongside this product I did use the the YSL Touche Eclat Blur primer underneath which did make it a lot more glowy than using alone, used alone it would be more of a matte finish.
I would be interested in trying the All Hours primer underneath this foundation to see how it holds up and because I love trying out a new base product!
The Eyeshadow Palette
Who doesn't love a new eyeshadow palette? Especially one that is affordable! I had been toying with the idea of trying out warmer toned eyeshadows but didn't want to spend a lot of money on it. Step forth the Rimmel Magnif’ eyes eyeshadow palette in Spice.
Not only was this palette really affordable, it is really great quality. The shadows are really pigmented and are easily blended to create whatever look you may be after. I have found myself going for the rusty orange (inbetween the two shimmers) and the purple shadows alot, which I didn't expect. The fall out from the shadows is minimal and any that does fall can be easily wiped off if you have popped some extra powder under your eyes. I am so impressed with this palette that I have been eyeing up a few of the other Magnif' eyes palettes to try out. What have you been loving recently?
